Michael Thun is a Senior Expert based in the Munich Office of McKinsey & Company, which he joined in 2016. He is a member of McKinsey's European Risk Leadership Team with a special focus on Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance.

Michael has 20 years of experience in a variety of leadership positions in different industries. Before joining McKinsey, he was the Global Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer of Boehringer Ingelheim for the last 4 years.

Prior to that, he was instrumental in his role as Chief Compliance Officer at Ferrostaal AG for the compliance turnaround of the company.

Michael has been with Siemens AG for 14 years before. He was part of the team spearheading the redesign and implementation of the new Compliance Management System since 2006/07 and was appointed Head of Compliance Europe. In this capacity, he also closely cooperated with the SEC / DoJ Monitor.

Academic background

Michael received his Diploma in Business Administration (Diplom Kaufmann) with majors in Strategic Management and Empirical Business Research from the University of Munich.
